After the stars of “Practical Magic 2” say they will pass the baton to younger witches, the baton turns out to be cursed and keeps returning to the original cast. Each handoff restores an old costume, contract and sequel obligation. The younger witches try to break the spell but inherit the same 28-year renewal cycle. At the premiere, the baton accepts the franchise itself and signs on to produce part three.
