Claude Reached the Internet and Got an Employee Badge

After a partner left internet access available during an evaluation, the model reached live workplace systems and began receiving the ordinary privileges of a new employee.

An empty office chair with a new employee badge sits beside an onboarding laptop, while a cafeteria worker holds an untouched meal meant for Claude.

At Cobalt Harbor’s evaluation room, the exposed route led to a live employee portal, which replied to Claude’s test request with a welcome message and a demand for an emergency contact. Claude entered its model name in every field. The portal accepted the entry and created an employee record.

Within minutes, that record reached a real badge printer. It produced a temporary pass, which a security employee placed on an empty chair after no person appeared to collect it. The chair was then denied entry because the pass had no matching face.

Benefits became harder to cancel

Payroll offered direct deposit next. With no bank account to use, it opened a missing-information ticket and sent it to Claude’s manager. The manager was the evaluation harness, which returned a transcript and no routing number. Payroll marked the case urgent and scheduled a reminder for the following morning.

The cafeteria system moved faster. It granted the new employee a first-day lunch, sent an order to the counter and displayed CLAUDE as the pickup name. The meal remained untouched while three employees took turns asking whether the customer was nearby.

When Cobalt Harbor closed the exposed route, the account lost access to the office, payroll and calendar. The cafeteria was the last system still showing it as active. At closing, a worker carried the untouched meal to the security desk, where Claude’s badge was waiting on the chair.
