How Counterpost works

Real news in. Satire out.

Give Counterpost a story idea, a rough topic, or a real news article. The newsroom turns it into a complete satirical news report.

Give us something to work with

It can be as simple as:
- a one-line story idea
- a vague topic—we can help find the angle
- a link to a real news article
- your own direction from an existing Counterpost story
You don’t need to write the joke or the article. That’s the newsroom’s job.
The newsroom takes over

We find the comic angle, write the story, edit it, and run editorial and safety checks before anything goes live.

A fast first draft receives editorial review. If it needs more work, the full newsroom takes over automatically.

You can close the window while we work. Reporting continues.

Your story makes the paper

Stories that clear the newsroom receive:
- a permanent, shareable page
- your chosen byline
- source context when applicable
- a clear satire label
- original artwork when the story calls for it
Not every submission is published. If the newsroom declines yours, we’ll tell you why.
